Compression is the Villain and ELDOA is the Super Hero

The spine’s biggest enemy is compressive forces and the spine’s greatest friend is the ELDOA.  For those that don’t remember, the ELDOA is a 1-minute exercise designed by Guy VOYER for the purpose of decompressing the targeted joint.  There is an  ELDOA for almost every joint in the body, but the most powerful ELDOA are for the spine and pelvis.

Compressive Forces on the Spine

The body is designed for many different tissues to dissipate daily compressive forces.  However, this requires all the tissues to be in a healthy state, which rarely occurs in modern society.  When the collective tissues cannot absorb the compressive forces, the spine and its individual motion segments are the last line of defense.  A motion segment is composed of two vertebra and a disc, hence all of the spinal pathologies surrounding us today.  Over 70% of the population will suffer from back pain in their lifetime.
